Mifsud Reaches Semi Final of Irish Pro-Am
10 Mar 2003

Steve Mifsud has added some more big-name scalps to his ever increasing list by reaching the semi finals of the Irish Pro-Am Championships. After making it through the qualifying rounds, Steve continued on in the main tournament to beat one of the new up and coming players Ryan Day, ranked number 90 in the WSA world ranking list, 5-0 and then the big scalp of Paul Hunter, ranked number 8, also by the overwhelming score of 5-0.

In the semi finals, which was shown on Irish TV, Steve just missed out progressing to the final, when he lost to number 29 world ranked Ian McCulloch 5-4. Ken Doherty went on to win the final against McCulloch 6-2. Other major players that were in the event were Ronnie O'Sullivan, Jimmy White, Mark King and Matthew Stevens.

Great work Steve - we are all proud of you.

Steve has also been granted a "wild card" to play in the World Professional Billiards Championships in Malta next month - congratulations Steve!
