Neil Robertson Climbs Rankings Ladder
04 Aug 2002

Victoria's Neil Robertson has climbed to second in the Australian snooker rankings with wins in both the Lance Pannell and Fred Osborne tournaments. The victories on successive weekends moved him up from fifth place on the ladder, overtaking Johl Younger, Joe Minici and Glen Wilkinson in the process.

Steve Mifsud still holds a 240 point lead for first position, but Robertson defeated him in the semi finals of both events - 3-1 in the Lance Pannell and 4-1 in the Fred Osborne. Mifsud has been the dominant figure in Australian snooker for several years, but Robertson's surge in the rankings sets up an interesting tussle in the lead up to the Australian National Snooker Championship to be held on 16-18 August.

Roger Farebrother has also made a move up the rankings from 6th to 4th, after reaching the quarter finals of the Lance Pannell and the final of the Fred Osborne. Farebrother was beaten 3-0 by Robby Foldvari in the quarter finals of the Lance Pannell, but returned the favour the following week with a 3-0 win over Foldvari in the quarter finals of the Fred Osborne.
