Snooker Tournament Playing Conditions for 2009

  • All tournaments will be played subject to the Rules of Snooker as prescribed by the IBSF.

  • All tournaments will be played subject to the Australian Code of Conduct and Ethics, both of which are available on the ABSC website - http://absc.com.au/governance.shtml

  • All tournaments are subject to the ABSC Disciplinary Rules & Procedures.

  • All clubs or venues must be affiliated to the ABSC through State affiliation.

  • A copy of these 'Playing Conditions' and the 'Disciplinary Rules & Procedures' should be displayed at the Tournament venue.

  • All Tournaments will be played over a weekend including the Friday evening unless officially sanctioned by the ABSC.

  • All tournaments are to be Smoke Free.

  • No Alcohol to be consumed by players or referees during a game.

  • Dress code for all sanctioned National Ranking Tournaments will be: long-sleeved, plain coloured shirts, buttoned at the wrist, bow ties, dark coloured tailored trousers, and dress shoes for all matches. Waistcoats must be worn from Quarter finals onwards. These dress rules must be enforced at all sanctioned National Ranking Tournaments. When the venue conditions are hot and humid, the dress-code requirements may be relaxed by decision of the Tournament Director.

  • Random Drug testing could be conducted at any National Ranking Tournament.

  • Minimum best of 5 frames for early rounds and minimum best of 7 for the Final

  • Aramith Tournament Champion balls to be used with white only cue ball.

  • All tournament draws are to be completed by the ABSC.

  • The current Champion will be seeded one (the runner up from the previous year's tournament is not afforded any special considerations and is seeded according to their current Ranking). If the current Champion does not defend their title the seeding will be directly from the National Rankings.

  • Except for the defending Champion, seeding for all Tournaments will be from the National Ranking List only. If visiting International players enter the event then the ABSC Seeding and Selection Committee reserves the right to seed these players. Tournament organisers are to forward to the ABSC Seeding and Selection Committee the names and any player profile available for International players entering any event prior to the draw.

  • In draws of up to 95 players, except the Australian National and the Australian Open, the top 16 players will be seeded forward to the Round of 32, and players 17-32 will be seeded forward to the Round of 48. In draws with more than 95 entrants, the Australian National, and the Australian Open, the top 32 players will be seeded through to the Round of 64, where the remainder of players will be drawn to meet these players.

  • A sanction fee of $5.00 per player for all Ranking Tournaments will be paid to ABSC for Australian representative support. (ABSC Bank details will be provided)

  • Tournaments with prize money $8000 - $12,499 will be deemed 'Group B' tournaments, each receiving 1 point earned. Tournaments with prize money in excess of $12500 will be deemed 'Group A' tournaments, where players will receive 1.5 for each point earned. Tournaments allocated Double Ranking points will receive 2 points for each point earned, regardless of the ranking category.

  • The results of each tournament must be forwarded to the webmaster directly after the completion of the Tournament, but at the latest within 24 hours. (webmaster@absc.com.au)

  • A photo of the winner (preferably at the time of the trophy presentation) must be forwarded to the webmaster as soon as possible after the completion of the Tournament.

  • The results must be forwarded to the webmaster on the provided drawsheet, or in an acceptable format, so the results can be easily posted on the web page with the updating of the National Rankings. (webmaster@absc.com.au)

  • A Report on the Tournament must be forwarded to the ABSC Secretary as soon as possible after the Tournament. (paulcosgriff@optusnet.com.au)

  • Any deviation from these Playing Conditions, unless approved by the ABSC prior to the commencement of the tournament, will exclude the tournament, and its results, from the National Ranking Scheme.

  • Players under suspensions or bans by the IBSF, OBSF, ABSC or its Affiliates will be ineligible to enter any National Ranking Tournament. Furthermore, the ABSC will support bans imposed by Clubs where players have breached the acceptable Code of Conduct required for entry to that Club's premises.

  • CL&S, the ABSC Sponsor of Record, will be recognised at all venues during these tournaments.
